If you are having issues starting Strive after installing, or after applying an update, please try the following.

Run Strive as Administrator

If you are receiving a message box that reads, Could not authorize license usage., the steps below will correct the installation issue.

The component we use for licensing Strive requires additional privileges that some versions of Windows don't provide by default. Performing the steps below will elevate Strive's permissions, allowing the licensing component to work properly.

1.  Open the Windows File Explorer and navigate to the Strive installation folder.

  • If you are running a 64-bit version of Microsoft Windows, you will find Strive under the following folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\AtHomesoft\Strive
  • If you are running a 32-bit version of Microsoft Windows, you will find Strive under the following folder: C:\Program Files\AtHomesoft\Strive

2.  In the Strive installation folder, you will see a file called AtHomesoft.exe (Application). You need to right-click on this file, and choose the option to Run as administrator. This will start Strive with additional privileges, allowing the licensing component to operate correctly. This only needs to be done once, and then you can start Strive normally from here on out.

If you are running Windows 8 and this does not fix the problem, you can try running the Compatibility Troubleshooter, which may be able to correct the issue for you.  You can run the Program Compatibility Troubleshooter from your desktop. Press and hold or right-click the program's icon or shortcut on your desktop, and then tap or click Troubleshoot compatibility.

If the steps above do not fix your problem, many have found that these additional steps do correct it.

1.  Create a new Windows Administrator user.
2.  Login as that new user.
3.  Start Strive as described above by right-clicking on the program and choosing Run as administrator.
4.  Once Strive starts up, you can logout as the new user and login as your normal Windows user.
5.  Start Strive and all should be well.

Windows 8.1 users see the following help article.

Re-Registration of Strive

Some updates cause Strive to think it needs to be registered, even though you have already done so. This is typically a result of us updating the licensing component that controls access to Strive. If this occurs, all you need to do is register Strive using your existing license key information that you received in your original sales email.

Uninstall and Re-Install Strive

Uninstalling Strive will leave your data file intact, so it is a safe operation to perform without losing your data. Installing the full installer will install any missing dependencies, and could correct issues found while updating.

1.  Open the Windows Control Panel and choose to Uninstall a program.
2.  Select AtHomesoft Strive and choose Uninstall
3.  Download and install the latest version of Strive from our website at: http://www.athomesoft.com/downloads/2009/setup.exe
